Media Advisory – Jan. 10, 2003
Announcement expected on housing
assistance funding Jan. 17 KANSAS CITY -- The Missouri Housing Development Commission is expected to approve $4.5 million in funding for agencies and organizations providing housing assistance for low-income families in Missouri during their Friday, Jan. 18 meeting in Jefferson City. This year, MHDC received 165 applications for more than $15.4 million in funding. Funding through the Missouri Housing Trust Fund (MHTF) must be used to financially assist the development of housing and provide housing assistance to very low-income individuals and families. The Housing Trust Fund MHTF is designed to increase affordable housing opportunities for low-income families. Eligible MHTF activities range from programs for the homeless to homeownership assistance, including shelters, rental assistance programs, and development of new or rehabilitated rental housing funded through grants or loans. Staff has reviewed 165 applications, received in October 2002 covering all areas of the state.
The results of the meeting will be
published on the MHDC web site
http://www.mhdc.com as soon as possible after the meeting. Media
representatives who want to discuss the results with MHDC should contact
Brandon Laster, Public Information Officer, prior to the Commission
meeting to schedule a follow-up call. A formatted text document will be
available for e-mail upon request. ### |
