Commission will decide housing assistance funding during Jan. 23 meeting
KANSAS CITY
-- The Missouri Housing Development Commission is expected to approve
$5.5 million in funding for organizations providing housing assistance
for low-income families in Missouri during their 10 a.m., Friday, Jan.
23 meeting at the Capitol Plaza Hotel in Jefferson City. This year,
MHDC received 188 applications requesting more than $19 million in
funding.
The Missouri
Housing Trust Fund (MHTF) is designed to increase affordable housing
opportunities for low-income families. Funding through the Housing Trust
Fund must be used to assist the development of housing or provide
housing services to very low-income Missourians.
Eligible MHTF
activities range from programs for the homeless to homeownership
assistance, including shelters, rental assistance programs, and
development of new or rehabilitated rental housing funded through grants
or loans.
Staff has reviewed all of the
applications received in October 2003, including two statewide
proposals. Specific counties serviced by the proposals received
