Commission offers $1 million for home repair financing
to nonprofits
The Missouri Housing Development Commission is offering $1 million for
repair and rehabilitation of owner-occupied homes to not-for-profit
agencies who are servicing non-metropolitan areas.
Up to $1 million of 2005 federal HOME funds will be made available for
rehabilitation, repair, and weatherization, reduction of lead risk, and
accessibility improvements, which may include modifications to allow the
elderly to remain in their homes. The maximum cumulative allocation to
any agency will be $300,000 during the first six months of the program
Eligible applicants include not-for-profit agencies serving all
non-metropolitan areas of the State of Missouri. These are communities
outside Missouri’s metropolitan areas of: St. Louis, Kansas City, St.
Joseph, Springfield, Joplin and Columbia.
This funding is available to Community Action Agencies and other
nonprofit organizations that will undertake the eligible activities on
behalf of low and moderate income families in eligible areas.
Applications for funding will be accepted by MHDC until 5 p.m., Central
Daylight Time, Monday Oct. 18, 2004. MHDC will select proposals from
agencies that reflect experience in these types of programs and the
capability to complete the work. Decisions regarding proposals will be
made during the month of December 2004.
