HUD honors Commission
with Shining Star Award
The Missouri Housing Development Commission
received the 2004 Shining Star Community Partnership award from
HUD’s St. Louis Field Office during recent ceremonies in St.
Louis. The award was accepted on behalf of the Commission and
staff by MHDC Commissioner Jane Klieve.
“We wanted to recognize MHDC for the
significant impact they have made in the preservation of
affordable housing in the state,” said Roy Pierce, St. Louis
Field Office Director. “MHDC provided funds for the
refinancing, rehabilitation and preservation of almost 2,000
housing units located in eastern Missouri, many in rural areas.”
Other 2004 recipients included: Advent
Enterprises, Inc.; Homebuilders of Greater St. Louis: Macon
Housing Authority; Pyramid Construction, Inc.; and St. Louis
CITY TV 10.
Pierce also commented that “it is through
these organizations and other HUD partners that HUD achieves its
national and local quality of life, housing and economic
development goals.”
MHDC is the state's housing finance agency.
The Commission is dedicated to strengthening communities and the
lives of Missourians through the financing, development and
preservation of affordable housing. Since 1970, MHDC has
encouraged and assisted in the production of affordable rental
housing and provided homeownership opportunities for thousands
of families.
