Treasurer breaks ground for Independence senior apartments
State
Treasurer Sarah Steelman joined Independence Mayor Rondell
Steward and MHDC Executive Director Erica Dobreff in breaking
ground for the Regency Manor II Senior Apartments during a
ceremony April 22.
The 50
two-bedroom apartment development, located at 17700 E. 17th
Court South in Independence, is a cooperative effort between
Santa Fe Trail Community Development Corporation and Jeffery E.
Smith Companies of Columbia, Mo. Funding includes a $1.4
million federal HOME loan and $429,948 in federal and state
Rental Housing Tax Credits.
The
property is adjacent to a similar senior facility that was
financed by MHDC and completed by Jeffery E. Smith Companies in
2001.
