State Treasurer celebrates Saddlewood reopening after rehab

State Treasurer Sarah Steelman joined Sedalia Mayor Robert Wasson to reopen the newly rehabilitated Saddlewood Apartments at 3201 W. 10th St. in Sedalia Aug. 18. Treasurer Steelman also serves as chairman of the Missouri Housing Development Commission (MHDC).

Missouri Housing Partners, based in Columbia, rehabilitated the 32 one-bedroom units in the complex with MHDC financing.  MHDC financing includes $1.4 million in construction loan financing, a $969,262 federal HOME loan and $155,504 in federal and state Rental Housing Tax Credits.

The MHDC Rental Housing Production and Preservation Program provides funding to developers for the acquisition and rehabilitation or new construction of rental housing for low and moderate income families. The MHDC funds are typically combined with Low Income Housing Tax Credits to fund affordable multifamily housing developments.

The Commission includes the governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general, treasurer and six persons appointed by the governor with the advice and consent of the Senate.
