Special Ceremony Celebrates Homeownership Month
Lt. Gov. Joe Maxwell will officiate at a ceremony honoring June as
Homeownership Month in Missouri at 2 p.m., June 27 in Sedalia. The
special ceremony will be held at 3229 Cunningham Drive in the Sparkling
Acres subdivision off 32nd Street (west of U.S. 65). Governor Holden has
issued a special proclamation designating June as Homeownership Month in
Missouri. The event is designed to highlight the opportunities available
to Missouri citizens to own their own house.
The Sparkling Acres subdivision was built through the Missouri Housing
Development Commission's Rural Subdivision Infrastructure Program. The
Rural Subdivision Infrastructure Program provides financing at a
favorable rate of interest to for-profit and not-for-profit developers
to encourage new home construction in rural areas of Missouri. The loan
may be used for acquisition of land and installation of sewers,
utilities and streets.
Local developers Nolan and Peggy Sparks agreed to sell 51 percent of the
homes in the subdivision for $91,000 or less. All homes must be priced
at $125,000 or less. Developers must demonstrate financial strength and
experience in development of housing communities.
Other dignitaries planning to attend include Erica Dobreff, MHDC
Executive Director;
Macie Houston,
Regional Director for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban
Development; and local dignitaries and elected officials.
