Partnership Celebrates Opening of Belton Apartment Complex

A special ceremony marked the opening of the Lakewood Terrace Apartments in Belton. Belton Mayor Billie Pinkepank was joined by Darwin Curls from U.S. Rep. Karen McCarthy’s office, city alderman and the Belton Chamber of Commerce members to celebrate the opening of the 152-unit apartment complex for families.

The apartment complex was developed by Zimmerman Properties of Springfield and includes 12 one-bedroom units, 92 two-bedroom units and 48 three-bedroom units. Located at 200 Cunningham Parkway (just east of Highway 71 and south of Missouri 58) and is managed by Wilhout Properties, Inc, also of Springfield.

Financing includes $338,089 in Federal and State Housing Tax Credits from the Missouri Housing Development Commission. Primary financing consisted of a $7.7 tax-exempt bond allocation from the Missouri Department of Economic Development issued by the Belton Industrial Development Authority.

The apartments in the Lakewood Terrace Community are part of the Housing Tax Credit program, designed to maintain affordable housing for local residents. Total household income cannot exceed certain amounts based on family size.
