State Treasurer Farmer opens The Ruskin
Townhomes in St. Louis
Nancy Farmer, State Treasurer, officiated at the
grand opening of The Ruskin Townhomes in St. Louis, July 19.
State Treasurer Farmer was joined by Sen. Patrick
Dougherty, Delester Jefferson of the I/70 Northwest Development
Corporation, representatives from U.S. Bancorp, The St. Louis Equity
Fund and the St. Louis Board of Alderman at the ribbon cutting ceremony.
The Ruskin Townhomes were developed by I/70
Northwest Development Corporation, which includes 9 three-bedroom
single-family homes and one three-bedroom single-family ADA accessible
unit in the 5000 block of Ruskin Avenue and four three-bedroom townhomes
at 5000-08 Thekla Avenue. CAMCO Inc., of St. Louis is the leasing agent
and property manager for the housing units.
The $2.5 million dollar development was financed in
part by $458,000 in Federal and State Housing Tax Credits from the
Missouri Housing Development Commission, which secured private investor
financing from St. Louis Equity Fund and U.S. Bancorp C.D.C.
The Ruskin Townhomes are part of the Housing Tax
Credit program, designed to provide affordable housing for residents.
The units will be rented to families that meet the Low Income Housing
guidelines and will rent for $400 per month. Residents renting the
townhome units are responsible for paying their utility bills and
residents renting the single-family homes are responsible for yard
maintenance and the payment of utility bills including water.
Each unit includes central air, carpeting, full
basements, and washer and dryer hook-ups. The single-family units
include attached garages.
