State Treasurer Farmer opens The Ruskin Townhomes in St. Louis

Nancy Farmer, State Treasurer, officiated at the grand opening of The Ruskin Townhomes in St. Louis, July 19.

State Treasurer Farmer was joined by Sen. Patrick Dougherty, Delester Jefferson of the I/70 Northwest Development Corporation, representatives from U.S. Bancorp, The St. Louis Equity Fund and the St. Louis Board of Alderman at the ribbon cutting ceremony.

The Ruskin Townhomes were developed by I/70 Northwest Development Corporation, which includes 9 three-bedroom single-family homes and one three-bedroom single-family ADA accessible unit in the 5000 block of Ruskin Avenue and four three-bedroom townhomes at 5000-08 Thekla Avenue.  CAMCO Inc., of St. Louis is the leasing agent and property manager for the housing units.

The $2.5 million dollar development was financed in part by $458,000 in Federal and State Housing Tax Credits from the Missouri Housing Development Commission, which secured private investor financing from St. Louis Equity Fund and U.S. Bancorp C.D.C.

The Ruskin Townhomes are part of the Housing Tax Credit program, designed to provide affordable housing for residents.  The units will be rented to families that meet the Low Income Housing guidelines and will rent for $400 per month.  Residents renting the townhome units are responsible for paying their utility bills and residents renting the single-family homes are responsible for yard maintenance and the payment of utility bills including water.

Each unit includes central air, carpeting, full basements, and washer and dryer hook-ups.  The single-family units include attached garages.

For leasing information, contact CAMCO Inc., (314) 869-8911.
