Greenfield Estate Apartments open in Bernie
State Senator Bill Foster ceremoniously cut the ribbon to signify the
grand opening of Greenfield Estate Apartments Aug. 22 in Bernie,
Missouri. Approximately 40 community leaders, members of the Dexter
Chamber of Commerce and state and local housing organizations were on
hand to officially open the apartments.
Developed by the Delta Area Economic Opportunity Corporation and MACO
Development Company of Clarkton, the 16-unit family apartment complex
already has 100 percent occupancy and has begun providing affordable
housing for local citizens.
The apartments were funded with a $500,000 USDA Rural Development loan
and $34,606 in state and federal Low Income Housing Tax Credits. Five
percent of MHDC rental production and preservation funding is set aside
for collaborative projects with USDA Rural Development.
The development includes eight one-bedroom apartments renting at $290
per month and 12 two-bedroom apartments that rent at $335 per month.
