Sunset Villas provides affordable housing for seniors in
Monett
The newly renovated Sunset Villa Apartments was officially opened in a
grand opening ceremony Aug. 27 in Monett. In cutting the ribbon to open
the 52-unit apartment complex, Lt. Governor Joe Maxwell told a large
crowd of community leaders and Monett Chamber of Commerce members that
the apartments are what is needed and deserved by seniors living in
Monett.
“We owe our seniors a debt of gratitude for the sacrifices they made to
shape our world,” said Lt. Gov. Maxwell, who serves as an MHDC
Commissioner and the State of Missouri’s senior advocate. “They deserve
safe, clean affordable housing and what has been done here is deserving
of praise. It is a fine facility that will provide housing for seniors
for years to come.”
Red-Wood Development of Joplin, Missouri, purchased and renovated the
old FHA property, formerly called Monett Meadows. MHDC financing
includes a $190,000 HOME loan at 1 percent for 30 years and $142,091
federal and state Rental Housing Tax Credits. Arvest Bank is also
involved in the financing of the complex.
