Commission to allocate rural home repair funding

Missouri Housing Development Commission will allocate $1 million of federal HOME funds to agencies providing home repair programs for rural Missourians during their 10 a.m., Friday, Dec. 17 meeting at the Marriott Hotel Country Club Plaza (Seville Room), 4445 Main St., in Kansas City, Mo. Ten agencies have applied for funding under the 2005 Home Repair Opportunities program (HeRO) [includes agency service areas].

Agencies applying for funds have responded to a Notification of Funding Availability issued August 2004, with applications due October 18, 2004.

Home repair programs for owner-occupied structures in non-metro areas of the state are eligible for this funding. The maximum income for participants in any Missouri county is usually between $35,500 and $51,600 for a family of four. Participating agencies can provide you with more information about the income limits. Eligible homeowners may receive cash assistance up to $20,000 for repairs.
