Housing professionals registering for September conference
in Springfield
The
2006 Governor’s Conference on Housing will bring 500 housing
professionals from organizations throughout the Midwest and
the state of Missouri to Springfield to tackle affordable
housing issues in September.
Registration is underway for the conference set for Sept. 28
& 29 at Springfield’s University Plaza Hotel & Convention
Center. The conference is sponsored by the Missouri Housing
Development Commission (MHDC) in partnership with state
agencies, social service providers and professional
associations.
“I
am excited MHDC is holding the conference in Springfield for
the first time. This is a great opportunity for the people
of Springfield to showcase our own downtown revitalization
efforts and highlight what our city has to offer.
This
conference ties very well within our strong economic
development focus that continues to lead this region.
In previous years, the conference has
alternated between St. Louis and Kansas City each year,”
says Rob Fulp, President of The Signature Bank and MHDC Vice
Chairman. “The conference offers housing professionals and
Missouri citizens a great opportunity to learn more about
the latest developments in affordable housing while
networking with their counterparts. ”
The
conference will include a full-day of activities Thursday,
Sept. 28, including the keynote address by renowned national
housing expert
Nicolas
Retsinas, Director of the Joint Center for Housing Studies,
Harvard University. Other seminars during the date include:
