Treasurer marks opening of energy efficient affordable housing

State Treasurer and MHDC Chairman Sarah Steelman will celebrate the grand opening of Lost Tree West in Branson in ceremonies beginning at 11 a.m., Monday, Oct. 30.

A colaborative effort of the Missouri Housing Development Commission, Crowder College and New Beginnings Development, Inc., the eight-unit affordable housing apartment building, located at 1500 Lost Tree Drive, is an innovative creation that utilizes EnergyStar and solar energy technologies to reduce the overall cost of utilities by 50-75 person.

MHDC provided $75,853 in federal and state Rental Housing Tax Credits to build this project. Crowder College, a regional leader in the solar technology field, provided the technical expertise to bring about the most cost effective, energy efficient measures.

The units are all 3-bedroom, 2 bath apartments renting for $510 per month, including utilities.
