Public Hearing Dates Set for Housing Development Funding

 

The Missouri Housing Development Commission will hold public hearings at four different locations on four nights in November to discuss the 114 affordable housing development proposals submitted by developers for 2007 funding in response to a Notification of Funding Availability issued in August. Hearings are planned for Springfield, Kansas City, St. Louis and Columbia. People with input regarding the proposals can also mail, e-mail or fax MHDC voicing their opinions.

 

The Springfield public hearing will be held at 6 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 9, 2006, at the University Plaza (Arkansas Room) 333 John Q. Hammons Parkway, Springfield, Missouri; Phone: 816.864.7333. The following cities are represented in the 32 proposals to be discussed:

 

Anderson Carl Junction Lebanon (3) Republic
Ash Grove Carthage Neosho (2) Springfield (4)
Bolivar Hollister Noel Webb City
Branson Houston Ozark (3) West Plains
Bull Creek Joplin (3) Reeds Spring (3) Willow Springs

 

The Kansas City public hearing will be held at 6 p.m., Monday, Nov. 13, 2006, at the Marriott Country Club Plaza (Grand Ballroom F&G), 4445 Main Street, Kansas City, Missouri; Phone: 816.531.3000. The following cities are represented in the 25 proposals to be discussed:

The St. Louis public hearing will be held at 6 p.m., Wednesday, November 15, 2006 at the Renaissance St. Louis Airport Hotel – Lambert Ballroom A&B, 9801 Natural Bridge Road, St. Louis Missouri 63134; Phone 314.429.1100. The following cities are represented in the 39 proposals to be discussed:

The final hearing will be held at 6 p.m., Thursday, November 16, 2006 at the Holiday Inn Select - Executive Center - Truman Room, 2200 I-70 Drive S. W., Columbia, Missouri; Phone 573.445.8531. The following cities are represented in the 18 proposals to be discussed: MHDC administers rental housing production programs including the federal and state Low-Income Housing Tax Credits. Funds for rental production programs also consist of MHDC fund balances and federal "HOME" funds. At least 15 percent of HOME funds are set aside for Community Housing Development Organizations (CHDO).

At the public hearing, MHDC staff will describe the development(s) under consideration, and accept and record public comments. Any interested party may attend the hearing to submit verbal or written comments and/or submit written comments to Missouri Housing Development Commission, 3435 Broadway, Kansas City, MO 64111, or through the office of the mayor or chief elected official of the locality in which the development is located. Comments may also be sent by e-mail (information@mhdc.com) as long as they include a full name, address and phone number of the individual making the comments.

 

Individuals wishing to attend a hearing and require specific aids or services under the Americans with Disabilities Act, should notify Diana Greener at 816.759.6600, at least three working days prior to the hearing.
