Homeless program application training set for April 12-13

The Governor’s Committee to end Homelessness will conduct a Continuum of Care Technical Assistance Workshop in Jefferson City April 12-13.   The Continuum of Care (CoC) is one of the competitive grants available from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.   The CoC focuses on assisting homeless persons to move to self-sufficiency and permanent housing.  Agencies can apply for permanent housing for people with disabilities or transitional housing and services as part of this program

The two-day training is mandatory for all organizations planning to submit applications under the Missouri Continuum of Care (sometimes referred to as Balance of State CoC). The training is being conducted in cooperation with Missouri Housing Development Commission and the Missouri Department of Mental Heath.

The workshop is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., April 12 and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., April 13, in Room 510, Harry S Truman Building, 301 West High Street, Jefferson City.   Lunch will be provided April 12.

The training facilitators are Liz Hagar-Mace, Department of Mental Health and Heather Bradley-Geary, Missouri Housing Development Commission.   The training explains the application process under the Missouri Continuum of Care Program.  The agenda will cover the Supportive Housing Program (SHP) application process, leveraging, explanation of the proposal review process, how to complete the application, cash match, developing the budget and HMIS participation.  The facilitators will also be available for technical assistance.  Supportive Housing Program (SHP) Application Forms will be available for you to take back to your office to complete.

Attendees must make reservations by close of business on April 6 with Heather Bradley-Geary, Missouri Housing Development Commission, (816) 759-7201 or e-mail, hgeary@mhdc.com.
