The Missouri Housing Development
Commission named Pete Ramsel Executive Director during
their regular monthly meeting June 15 in
Branson. Ramsel had been serving as Acting Executive
Director since October 2005. He will be the fourth
permanent Executive Director in MHDC’s 37 year history.
"Pete Ramsel has been a leader on
the MHDC," said Governor Matt Blunt. "He is a bright
and thoughtful person and I wish him well as he takes on
the important responsibilities as the Commission's new
Executive Director."
Ramsel joined MHDC in 1995 as a
Senior Loan Underwriter. He later served as Chief
Underwriter/Deputy Director from 2001 until assuming the
role of Acting Executive Director. Prior to joining
MHDC, Ramsel spent 24 years in housing finance and
development in the private sector.

Pete Ramsel is the new Executive Director of MHDC. Pete
has many years of experience working in housing finance
both in the public and private sector. The Commission
and I look forward to continuing to work with Pete to
improve and expand affordable housing opportunities for
working families in our State,” said Richard F. Baalmann,
Sr., Chairman of MHDC.
The Executive Director reports
directly to the Commission which includes the Governor,
Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, State Treasurer,
and six appointed members. Responsibilities include
oversight of all aspects of current programs and
enforcement of Commission policies.
The MHDC has invested nearly $4
billion for rental housing development and preservation,
home mortgages, home improvement loans, and other
housing programs. MHDC functions as a bank, providing
financing directly to borrowers or through a network of
private lending institutions. Since 1970 MHDC has
financed more than 77,000 first-time homebuyers and
assisted in the production of more than 88,000
affordable apartments in Missouri.
